White House, Canyon De Chelly

Text Box: Built by the Anasazi around 1060 A.D., White House was abandoned around 1300 and lay dormant for 300 years until the Navajo arrived around 1600. The word Chelly is as close to the Navajo word ‘Tsegi’ as early Spanish explorers could get. The Navajo word is pronounced-  tsay’yeh.
