White House, Canyon De Chelly

Built by the Anasazi around 1060 A.D., White House was abandoned around 1300 & lay dormant for 300 years until the Navajo arrived . The word Chelly is as close to the Navajo word ‘Tsegi’ as early Spanish explorers could get. The Navajo word is pronounced- tsay’yeh.
